I'm a young half Malaysian/half Sri Lankan woman with an expertise in science/maths/engineering. I've got a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics and a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering – yes, I spent seven-and-a-half years being a geeky academic. But, I wasn't a total nerd - my catwalk/editorial modelling experience since the age of 15 has always fuelled my passion for the glamorous world of entertainment and fashion. Today, presenting factual entertainment marries my two diverse interests together!

Beneath the drama of it all, I've always found myself captivated by how and why things work. I'm always amazed by scientists and engineers awesome discoveries and inventions. I want to investigate the challenges (big or small) that face us and learn the answers to the common questions that most people ask. My recent experiences have had me asking why a hot air balloon spins faster clockwise the higher it goes or why you must 'floor-it' to the apex of a hairpin bend just before you slam on the breaks. I've got boundless energy, enthusiasm and willingness to test things out and get involved at the heart of the action – boy, do I have stories to tell about our 'basket-case' landing of the balloon and spinning out of control on the Formula 1 track.

Why should we bother with science? Well, understanding science gives you a certain outlook on life. Just like learning about the story of a painting influences the way you view it. I most appreciated science last September (2005) when I climbed to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro – I was crying out thanks to the scientists who'd developed thermal materials for my sleeping bag, water purification tablets and Diamox (the altitude sickness pills)!

I believe I can make science and factual TV entertaining, sexy, informative, dynamic and adventurous – watch a selection of showreels; view some modelling pictures in my gallery and browse through my CV on my website (link below).
